    I need advice please.

This is my situation, I'm currently with Three for the last 18 months. Speeds around 3 to 4mbps and never had any problems until about 2 days ago. My router and modem in the same place for the last year and half and since two days ago connection dropping out then reconnecting this could happen several times in a hour.

I have noticed my next door neighbour recently is also on Three I know because under connect settings on laptop it shows up they have 3 wireless Modem-7d30 also noticed they have something stuck on there window.

My problem has only started since this device has shown up on next door window.

Is it possible that this device is taking away the signal, that's why my modem keeps dropping connection. Thanks in advance.

One more user the uses that service at the same time will half your speed ONLY if you were the only user in the first place. Chances are there are a load of users online in your cell at any one time so if we guess at 10 other users then one extra user nexdoor might be taking One Eleventh of your signal.

What I am trying to say is yes a new user will have some affect on you but probably not enough to cause your current problem, but then again there could be more than one new user in your cell, its Mobile Broadband so you just don't know.

That all said there have been some issues recently in some areas (see the Network Error thread) and you might have got caught up in those. I've had a few more disconects than I'd expect recently and yesterday had to do 4 reboots of the router with attached 3G dongle to keep online and have again this morning had to do another reboot but have had that happen before (although not as bad for a while) so something might be more screwed up than normal at 3? I tend to treat the bad service as perfectly normal and think of it as a bonus when it works ;)

Looks like I'm getting the same issue here, connection keeps dropping but works fine when I reconnect? 3 restarts to keep a connection to 3's network this moring.

Link to the Network Error thread in the Talk to 3 forum but I now think thats a different problem.

btw you need to be sure where the signal is dropping is it the WiFi signal (change channel to a different one to your nighbor by at least 3 channels up or down - because the frequencies overlap) or is the the connection to 3 that drops?

It's not Wifi have reset router a few times now all working fine. I live out in the sticks as the say and there would not be to many users on the three cell even at peak times never goes below 2mbps. Everything is working fine today running at around 5mbps and no disconnections after three days of hell. I have noticed the next door neighbour is not at home:rolleyes: Anyways it could be all to do with this network error its the first time i have heard of it.

I will change the router channel if problem reoccurs. Let you know if this is they issue.

Without wanting to sound like a cynical sod, make sure you're not using WEP, use something decent like WPA/WPA2, for your router, with a very long and complex key.

Just a bit odd things turn so bad when the person is around, there's always a small chance they might be mooching off of you. WEP is not an obstacle in the path of, 'free neighbour internet'.
