Is a 3/4 year old Jeantech PSU safe enough for a new build?

    Hi guys,
I've got a 3/4 year old 700w Jeantech PSU (seen here: http://www.jeantech.com/power.htm) from an old build and I was wondering what you think of it to run a new build? Is Jeantech a trusted name? Is it a risk to run a new build on this PSU? Cheers lads!

Jeantech aren't a major PSU brand.

    From guru3d's list:
    http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=205763
    Jeantech http://www.jeantech.com/
    OEM: UNKNOWN
    JNP-400P ~NG
    JN120F-450AP ~22A
    JN1207-450-AP ~NG
    JNP-500-AP ~NG
    JN120F-600AP1 ~35A
    JN128F-1000CAP ~75A
    OEM: ATNG
    JN-600-AP ~NG
    OEM: Sirtec
    JN-700-A12C ~NG

The 700W might be made by Sirtec so. Some of Sirtec's recent PSUs have been reasonably good but they've had a lot of duds in the past.

I'd say get yourself a new, guaranteed good quality, efficient PSU for a new build. You probably don't need a 700W PSU if you buy a good one, so choose wisely.

Would a corsair vx 550w be ok for a new build?

Do they still sell the VX550W?
It's a decent PSU. Assuming it hasn't had a hard life for several years, it should be fine. I wouldn't worry even if it has had a few years of average use either.

No got it off a friend for a tenner. About 2 years gaming use from him, but no overclocking or crossfire etc from what I know.
