There's this girl who I see often, who always seems to teasing i.e. 'ball-busting' me. She doesn't do it to others. It's really fecking annoying, I can't avoid the girl as I work with her. Why do women tease like that? How do I stop it?

What do you mean by tease, exactly? Do you mean sexually or do you mean mentally? If it's the latter, it could constitute as bullying and you could report her to your HR rep.

There doesn't seem to be anything sinister in it, basically she loves to wind me up, declare she was only messing and then laugh. It pisses me off.

It's been done to death, but seriously OP - it sounds like there is one girl who is teasing you, so why would you ask why all women tease?

It sounds like she is either a b&tch or she likes you. Call her out and the next time she does it say - give it a rest please, in a serious tone. She'll get the message.

I'm going to guess by the fact you make sweeping generalisations about an entire gender based on your interaction with one female that you aren't that old OP.

Perhaps she's a bully, perhaps she really fancies you, perhaps she just like pulling your leg - who knows. Why don't you ask her? Failing that - stop spending time in her company, problem solved.

    All the best.

    silent treatment

if she keeps doing it say something like "mary will you stop showing off"

that can be really humiliating for a bully and might take the bitch down a peg

you need to make it stop or retaliate in some fashion. preferably disproportionately. if others in the office see her do this to you alone they will think you are weak
