Hi guys! Im hopefully heading to st pats (drumcondra) to do primary teaching in September.. Anyway Im not sure whether to stay in dcu or st pats. Im tempted to the amount of soccer tournaments and student nights in dcu, but don't know too much about st pats.. Would I be a bit out of place in dcu? Thanks!

I would say that if you were going to St. Pats but living in one of the student residences near DCU with all DCU students it would make it a lot more difficult to settle in and meet people in Pats, something you will want to do if you're studying there. Considering that Pats is very close to DCU anyway I wouldn't say that it's worth missing out on getting to know your classmates, most of whom will probably be living nearer Pats, just to be slightly nearer to some sports facilities and a campus bar (which only has big nights out 2-3 times a semester unless they bring back a regular late bar next year which may or may not happen). You'll still be able to join DCU Clubs & Societies and go to any balls/big nights out that are on in DCU.

I have been reading some posts on boards from Pats students and they seem to be saying that students should stay in the college in their first year at least. I am starting to lean more towards st pats then dcu now!
