What cars sell really well here?

Hey lads, so I'm just planning to buy a car next month, probably under a 1000 quid, but was wondering this:

What cars between 2-5k sell here really well? I know the Avensis sells well here (mostly taxi drivers buy them), but interested in the aspect.

Just pure curiosity, not planning to buy a 5k car (at least yet ;) )

vw (vag group) toyota and ford are most likely the biggest sellers here (no figures to back that up) but the latest scrappage scheme has seen a lot of small cheaper cars become popular.

Anything that is cheap to run (ie. tax, insure and put fuel in) are the best sellers. Thing is due to demand these type cars go for top money, even early to mid 1990s Jap stuff fetch decent prices these days. So to get the best value for your money you should be looking at what doesn't sell the best here as they tend to be the cheapest to buy.
