OK so after years of using standard ISP supplied modems I finally got fed up of internet drop outs and lack of features on them so I went on Ebay after doing some research and bought myself one of these Dlink modems thinking all my problems would be solved, Obviously I didnt do enough research as it appears,.. I'm not fully sure yet that this modem cant be used in Europe?
I'm with Vodafone and have inputted my settings correctly but there is no option to input VPI/VCI settings, from reading a few forums it has them automatically installed but I dont know what they are and I cant find a way to configure them,
I rang Vodafone customer care this morning they said they didnt support Dlink but said that if I have all the other settings in correctly then all thats left is these VPI/VCI settings, does anyone have one of these routers?? could you please explain to me where I can find these settings????
I downloaded the latest firmware a few mins ago so I'm going to update it now and see if that works, thanks in advance!!

Thats because the DLINK DGL-4500 is a Gaming Router and not a modem also. Im pretty sure you will find a WAN port on the back.

You need to plug a CAT5/6 cable from Port 1-4 on your Modem into WAN on the DLINK DGL-4500.

You can however buy Router/Modem combos like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Linksys-Wireless-telephone-connections-Broadband/dp/B0030XMPQG/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1336595584&sr=8-5

Ok, I'm not questioning you but your 100% sure about that yea? Buying another modem isnt an option at this stage,

Can I use my old Perlico box as a modem? I'm assuming if I did I wont get the full benefit of the Dlink? How much would a decent modem cost me?
Thanks for your help so far, I'm sort of a newbie at networking etc, I dont fully understand all the ins and outs of it yet,

From reading the routers specs ftp://ftp10.dlink.com/pdfs/products/DGL-4500/DGL-4500_ds.pdf it does mention WAN. So yes, I am 100% there is no modem in it

Of course you can use your Pelico supplied modem, just connect a CAT5/6 from one of the ports on it into WAN on the back of the router. Yes if the Perlico Box is dropping the connection then the connection will also drop on the Dlink. I have found TP-Link modems to be OK but not great they are also fairly inexpensive , I know a few ISPs are supplying TP-Link gear to people (BT Business).

Looking through Amazon you could add this to the Dlink you already got http://www.amazon.co.uk/D-Link-DSL-320B-ADSL2-Ethernet-Modem/dp/B0015RRIKM/ref=sr_1_54?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1336830480&sr=1-54 its not too expensive as fas as modems go.
