Stuart Turner pump problem

    Hello All,

We have a Monsoon 4 bar twin (export) Stuart Turner pump that works the power shower. It stopped working about 2 months go and I was able to get it started again by pressing the manual reset button on the side of the pump (a black rubber covered button to the side of the electrics control box). It stopped again a couple of days ago and i did the same thing again and it is working fine now for the moment.

I could not find this exact pump on the Stuart Turner website but I was able to locate a few pumps which are very similar. All of the technical spec sheets for the pumps indicate that the thermotrip reset facility is automatic and in the fault finding section they recommend you wait some time and then try to restart the shower and it will have reset itself. It also says on the rating plate of the pump that it has a "auto resetting thermotrip" device fitted

My questions are: is this a special pump for export only and that's why it has this manual reset ( even though it says auto rest on the plate) fitted?
what could be causing the thermotrip to trip, e.g water too hot, filter needs cleaning etc,? and finally do you think it's ok just to reset again if it trips again?

I would really appreciate any comments suggestions at all. I'm just a little worried that I should not be resetting without finding out why it trips in the first place.

Maybe try turning down the stat on your hot water if you can....Make sure there is not any clothes lying on it or around it...
