My reply is based entirely on reading the First Strike website; there's no overt mention of DVB-S2 in the FS1 specs. The FS2 specs list it as a 'signal lock format'.

There's a 'What signals can I get?' in the FAQs here.

My understanding would be that the FS1 would be able to detect signal level & SNR ('analogue measurements') for the Saorsat transmissions but not 'digital' measures like BER & you'd be better off with the FS2. I could be (very) wrong, hopefully someone who actually has one (or can interpret the specs better) will reply.

you could use it to align the dish with an universal LNB then swap the LNB for a KA,
