Safari and youtube

Use safari, just used to it and like it

But for the past number of months I've had severe issues using youtube.
No other site, just youtube

The browser sloooooooows to a crawl and even crashes when I use that site
But madly if I watch an embedded youtube like on boards.ie there are no problems. I can also use firefox on my iMac and no problems with youtube

It's not my internet connection
And reading around the internet seems to be a common issue but I never found a solution

Why does Safari struggle with youtube lately?

Anyone else find this?

Try clearing your cache/cookies/browsing history and see if there's any improvement.

Is this slowness only when playing videos or is just browsing the site slow as well?
