    The Ford Focus had a 100,000 mile timing belt change interval (160,000 km) so its probably fine.

    ............seemingly my Renault Fluence has a DPF with a lifetime guarantee :D............

    I'm sure they still charge for forced re gens though :)

    Toyota avensis (d4d d-cat) have been using a 5th injector to regenerate there dpf's for the last few years...Tbh i have heard some horror storys from different mechanics about this 5th injector...:eek:

    The filter might have a lifetime warrenty, but your filter is not what causes problems, the filter is generally the result of somthing else (injector as an example). This won't obviously be covered, and then if the dpf would need to be replaced, it would not be covered as it is not faulty, but rather it has been contaminated by another faulty part

    As regards the timing belt change interval, on previous cars (not that old either) it's usually been about 50,000 miles or 80km ish, is what they are recommending on the Fluence realistic & what I should accept or is there any reason to do it earlier, I would plan to hold on to the car for at least 8 years

    I think the 1.5 dCi has a timing chain which should last the life time of the engine. George Dalton or Nissan Doctor on here can verify if this is the case.

    If I were you, OP, I'd learn everything in the owners manual about DPF use and regeneration as, if it ever does fail, they will likely try anything to say it was to do with how you used the car.

    Its just shy of 200k. They are also due every 4 years if the mileage is not reached.

    Car does about 500km / week, 400 of those km's are decent motorway spins

    Well your using the car properly so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just make sure to avoid cheap diesel and especially, make sure the correct spec oil is used.

    That's the crux of it.

    Also, Renault haven't been as generous in Ireland with warranties as they have been elsewhere. I'd get it from them that there is a lifetime warranty rather than renault.com.

    I'm no fan of the way renault operate but thats just not a reality. It's said there's a lifetime warranty on the filter, all you can do is take it as is. The only thing that could possibly go wrong with the filter is the housing leaking. A car is a consumable item, you cant expect lifetime warrenties and it's not as if they are plastering "lifetime warrenty on DPF filters on their ad's

    Huh? The only thing that can go wrong with a DPF is the housing breaking?

    That's either very misinformed or you simply don't know what a DPF is.
