    I've started playing American McGee's Alice on PS3 and I'm taking a while to get used to the controls. Since I'm so used to controlling characters in third person games with the left analogue stick and camera with the right. This game moves forward, back and side to side with the left stick and the right controls turning.
    I remember Tomb Raider used to play like this, though I've only played bits of the first couple.

    Either I didn;t play many third person games around 2000 or I just made the jump from 2d to 3d with the N64 which meant I was playing with analogue when I changed
