I just accidently looked up on their website and they have new policy booklet. I'm with them for few years now, and after quick glance at the new policy, I see few things changed.

    F.e.

    1. So far they had unlimited EU cover. Unfortunately not any more. 60 days limit, but I understand there is an option to extend (probably will cost extra).
This insurance shall operate in terms of this Policy in respect of Private Cars in the
following countries: Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Great Britain, The Isle of Man,
The Channel Islands.Your Policy is automatically extended to cover You to travel to or on
the Continent of Europe for up to 60 days in any period of insurance.

The insurance also operates during the course of Sea Transit, Channel Tunnel Transport or
Rail Transport (including loading and unloading).
For travel to any country not referred to above, or if Your intended period of foreign travel
exceeds 60 days you must contact Us.

We will also provide the minimum legal insurance required by law to use the Car in any
European Union country and any other country which has made arrangements to meet
the minimum insurance requirements set by the European Union.

    2. So far there was no requirement for the car to be NCTed. Now they introduced it, so I assume if car is not NCTed, they can refuse to pay out for it.
    Looking after Your Car
You must take all reasonable care to:
    1. Safeguard Your Car from loss or
    damage and prevent injuries.
    2. Maintain Your Car in a roadworthy
    condition, ensure that lights, mirrors
    and braking systems are working
correctly and, where necessary, has a
    valid NCT certificate.

    3. Fit tyres appropriate to the Car, and
ensure tread depths comply to the
    legal limit.
    4. Ensure You do not leave Your keys in
the Car while unattended or leave
    Your Car unlocked.

    3. Another new thing - requirement to present car keys in case of theft claim.
In the event of a claim for the theft of a
Car, We will request the keys of the Car
from the registered owner. Failure to
provide the keys may have an impact on
any claim You make under this section of
    the Policy.

    4. They won't pay out for accidental damage to car if you were drunk or on drugs
    16. We will not pay for loss or accidental
damage arising out of an accident if
You or any Insured Person(s): Has
breath, blood or urine alcohol / drug
levels above the legal limit in the road
    traffic legislation.

    5. They added following text in few places in policy, especially worth noting it's by protected NCB part and by windscreen not affecting NCB part.
Allianz reserve the right to increase
premiums or change the terms and
conditions of Your Policy in the event of
    a poor claims experience.

In general situation is getting worse and worse.
I remember few years ago they offered NCB protection with possibility of 2 claims during 3 years period not affecting your NCB.
Then 2 years ago they limited it to only 1 claims. Now it's going further.

I'm getting scared, as I had a claim and NCB protection, so it looks like I will have to stay with them. But on the other hand over last 3 years I had also 3 windscreen claims, and I'm worried that they will treat this as poor claims experience, and therefore they will rip me off.

    :(

All seems fairly sensible, if drunks and druggies not being able to make successful claims keeps my premiums down im happy

    I find 2, 3 and 4 very sensible.

But 1 and 5 absolutely devastating.

Good enough for me. No time limit on this.

My insurance is up for renewal at the moment. 123 quoting €397 fully comp on 07 avensis petrol and Allianz are closest with €414. All others way off that, closer to €600. If the new conditions allow allianz compete and they are reasonable then i have no issues with that.

They're all very standard conditions tbh. Seems they're coming in line with the rest.

I recall in last month or two, there were some threads here, where it was established it's definitely not common for insurer to require a vehicle to be NCTed.
I recall also a thread, where someone was surpriced insurer didn't pay out for car after it was crashed by drink driver. And it seemed most insurers didn't have such clause.

Considering theft of car keys is the way to make off with most modern cars.... either by breaking into the house or pickpocketing. This sounds.... not good

kinda pointless to buy insurance for a peace of mind in the unforeseen event such as theft where they break in to steal the car by taking key.

your policy allows you to travel unlimited THIRD PARTY minimum cover anywhere in the EU up to the date of expiry afaik.

effectivley, this bit "We will also provide the minimum legal insurance required by law to use the Car in any
European Union country and any other country which has made arrangements to meet
the minimum insurance requirements set by the European Union"

    It does of course...
But no cover for fire, theft, accidental damage, windscreen, personal accident, etc.

It's not like you to only half look into something CiniO.

    Is this new cover cheaper?
How much now for the extras you used to have?
Is the total cost of the 2 above more or less than you would have paid?

My policy is only for renewal in 2 months, but I did get a quick quote online and it seems to be nearly the same as last year with old policy rules.
It's very slightly cheaper, but I turned 30 in the meantime, so this could have affected the premium down a bit.

What i did this year was to sign-up for cheapest quote, and hope to not cause accident, or have any other reason to call insurance company. For me when the car value is less than anything i can afford at short notice, i don't bother with any extras, and prefer to get good premium. In my case i went for nononsense, where you have to declare if you commute to work, if you said yes, you get business use, too(but no deliveries, samples etc). There is an excess - even for 3rd party claim, but it is 500E only, but for 300E premium a year you really can't go wrong. It works for me anyway, as most insurers would look for 600+/year, so i can risk an excess of 500E.
As for the conditions - it is pretty basic stuff, wouldn't worry about this too much.
