A co-worker refers to theirs as the **** box. Never heard anything good about them besides. New model is fantastic apparently

Same idea as a Hyundai accent

Her main concern is their reliability - would anyone know if there are any common faults to look out for?

A friend at work has a 2000 Accent and he never had a bother as long as I known him.So if they are similar they may not be the worst cars out there.

If she just needs cheap, reliable a to b transport then she could buy alot worse than a Rio. Though if it was me I would drop back a year and find a Ceed instead, while from a class above, it is light years ahead of the Rio.

There's very little goes wrong with it, engine is nice, equipment is good, Its just cheap feeling but if reliability is the only concern then why not

Wouldn't be my cup of tea but the father has one and has had no issues except the horn stopped working at one stage, brought it back to main dealer and was sorted with the minimum of fuss

I bought one recently as a second car, its a Saloon, surprised by the boot in them, big for the size of car, mine is 1.4 too and is cheap to run, compared to 2L I had previous :D

Mechanic I use said they are reliable too, so all good.

Bought a new Rio a couple of years ago. Would not buy another one, it had a steering problem from the getgo and have major issues trying to get it foxed. Standard response is "oh, you nust have hit a pothole". If the problem is anything other than minor, they will do anything they can to avoid fixing it.

mam has one, an 08 too. its.. ok

the only fault per sé is that the radio keeps crapping out until the engine is switched on and off a few times (weird I know).

but she doesnt like the car. she'd have her fabia back in a heartbeat

its nippy, and I like the look of it, but I wouldn't buy one

A gang of us rented one for a w/e in the UK. I was last to be picked up (different airport) and seriously considered getting out and hitching a lift, after perhaps 10 minutes.

    ON THE M1!
