Well deserved AP, fantastic season with fantastic signings.

    Fair play.

    Well deserved .

and if there was an award for scout of the year then Mr Carr gets it hands down.

Will be interesting if they can keep the league intensity up next season whilst also bring in more competitions/Europe .

    Kompany is well deserved.

    BUT Vidic is class.

    :pac:

joke from the Kompany thread. both awards fully deserved.

    Pardew for Chelsea?:D

    Both awards well deserved....

    Good stuff, deserves it.

Hardly got any recognition during the year, it was mostly about Redknapp.

To cap it off with CL qualification would be phenomenal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,721 ✭✭✭Al Capwned

To say that AP (great initials :pac: ) was not the supporters first choice when his appointment was announced would be a massive understatement. He's definitely silenced his doubters....

I'm genuinely happy for him, have no idea what he's actually like, but he seems to be a nice fella, and obviously a fine manager to boot.

    Good luck to him.

Headline soccer story on RTE sport at 11.

**** off RTE and tell me the results of actual football that was played tonight.

You can't have any complaints about Pardew getting it with what his team has achieved.

Personally I think that what Paul Lambert has done at Norwich City is incredible and he would have been neck and neck with Pardew for the award for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,979 ✭✭✭Vurnon San Benito

I think if you want to makes Pardew's success look even more outstanding - it would be like looking at Paul Lambert now, and picturing him pushing for Champions League football in just a years time.

Few signings for Norwich, keep their playing style and they'll be a force to be reckoned with next season, top 10 anyway I'd say.

Either way, Lambert, Pardew, Rodgers have all done a very good job this season on small budgets, and low expectations. :)

I would add Moyes for manager of the decade for keeping Everton in the premiership with not much more than 50p to spend. All the above had more to spend but spent wisely.

Well done Pards! Fantastic season, here's hoping for a cherry on top on Sunday!

    Kompany is well deserved.

No it isn't. Just because he was good doesn't mean RVP wasn't miles better.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,785 ✭✭✭✭Paul Tergat

    Fair play to him.

When they sacked Hughton and brought him I thought it was a pisstake. He's proved me wrong. Well deserved.

Well deserved .......... 'though if he had Malcolm McDonald he could have won the league :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,116 ✭✭✭Professional Griefer

Completely deserved. Looking at the thread Paully made, there was at least one person who had Newcastle down in the bottom 3. I didn't expect them to come in the top half. But he had them playing great football. Just hope they hold on to their top players and continue to compete up there.

    Disagree.

However one should not be comparing forwards and defenders, it's pointless.

Get real will you, Kompany is the main reason why City are where they are this season, without him they'd be lucky to be in the top 4, not just a great player but a great Captain of the club too, fully deserved

Pardew deserves the award, Kompany simply doesn't.

Only way this will happen is if we achieve champions league qualification. Otherwise Ashley will continue on with his policy of buy cheap, sell high which seems to have worked very well for him so far.
Could see Tiote, Ba, Collocini or Krul all being sold in the summer if we dont get CL

He has been very good, I won't argue with you, but Van Persie's season has been the best I've seen from a Premiership player in a few years.

    *insert obligatory Kanye West picture*

Deserved in fairness. Like Eagle Eye I'd have had Lambert right up there too though.

Very good manager is Moyes but that's one of the biggest myths in football.

Of course he's spent a lot less than other clubs challenging in and around that final Europa League spot but the likes of Fellaini, Jelavic, Baines, Distin, Heitinga, from their current squad weren't signed for pennies and the he's also spent decent money on and got rid of the likes of Bilyatedinov, Yakubu, Johnson, Beattie, Yobo, Kroldrup etc.

As I said, very good manager but he hasn't done it on free transfers like many people think.

There isn't much of an etc. though. And thats very little over 10 years of management.

AP is a top man, Incredible football by the toon this year, well deserved

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,382 ✭✭✭✭greendom

Pardew and Newcastle have had a fantastic season, but i would have thought Rodgers or Lambert were more deserving. So refreshing to set their teams up to play a great style of football on such limited budgets.

Pardew did amazingly but where would he be without his scouting network ?

A net spend of about 20m over 10 years and remaining in the top 7 for most of them seasons is decent going. http://www.transferleague.co.uk/premiership-transfers/everton-transfers.html

Paully D knocking something Newcastle related.... shocked!

In saying that Pardew is not likeable, very argumentative and knows how to hold a grudge.

To be fair I did say it was well deserved. I just don't get why some people think he's a decent bloke when he's anything but.

On limited bugets your scouting has to be even better.

Howson, Johnson, Pikington, the Bennetts - none of these would have been on the shopping lists of many of the other clubs.

Fantastic! He absolutely deserved it. Carried on Hughton's fantastic work and improved upon it and is now on the verge of getting them into the Champions League for first time since Robson was in charge

Tbh It would take a remarkable turn of events tomorrow if Newcastle were to get into top 4

True. I'm in denial though since I have an extremely soft spot for New'astle

Sure I'm a fan of them but expecting both Arsenal and Spurs to drop points and a win in Goodison, a very tough place to go, is a bit much. Great season though

No you just need Spurs to drop points, to win in Goodison, and for Bayern to beat Chelsea (which is likely)

Why couldn't they wait until the league is over before annoucing this?

Pardew has done well this season that's for sure, but I'm not kissing his photo before I go to bed just yet.

I think this season has been a success as a result of Mike Ashley finally getting rid of the undercurrent of disruption within the club, rather than Pards' managerial ability.

Next season will tell the tale.

Bit negative no??? Fulham are 2nd in the form table with 13 points from their last 6 games, West Brom are 5th in the form table!!! Spurs are bottlers too!!! I wouldnt be writing off your chances just yet.....have to beat Everton obviously, but i could see Fulham leaving the Lane with some points.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,924 ✭✭✭wonderfullife

Not to mention the fact there is no love lost between Martin Jol and Spurs.....sacked by text message!!!!! he'd love to deny them a spot in champions league!!!

Everton is a very tough place to go though. Who knows though there may be twists yet!
