I am tabling a motion here in A/R that we move racewalking to the Tri/Adventure Racing forum. I believe that it has more in common with these two novelty events...Anyone know how to insert a poll here?

Maybe put ultrarunning discussion in there too?

Racewalking is a track and field event and where probably our best chances of medals at global track and field championships. I don't think it can be deemed as an adventure event!

If you read my post correctly- I never referred to it as an "adventure" event, rather a novelty one!

Ultrarunning and racewalking are the same thing aren't they? Both qualify you to walk a long way. :)

I do enjoy your feeble wind-up attempts. :) How are those "speed" sessions coming along by the way? ;)

I like where this would go. So everything that is a novelty event moves away. So, taking men's distance as the benchmark, anything slower than say 33 mins will be regarded as a joke and discussion on same moved away from the main forum.

    Gonna be quiet round here.

Haha, post of the week. Not much that can be argued with that.

Yes, but, we'll all be over there, leaving Bazman on his own over here (unless you'd care to share your recent sub 33 result with us).

Sh8te, have a 33min from over 20 years ago in my last 10k so would have to migrate with the rest. However, with coaching hat may be able to stay as in relative terms would coach sub 30 athletes so may be able to stay.

No, old men and their dodgy PBs go with the joggers. Elite athletes only here. I'll stay behind to turn out the lights.

Can we count a 400mH IAAF equivalent of a 33 min 10k? You'd be safe if we did that. Or do these times have to be completed in the last 12 months. I like this idea :)

    Why? 33 minute 10k is 717 points. That's 'the equivalent of' a 52.91 400m.
    You're a jogger too.

I know. I am indeed. I'm a sprint-jogger, and don't try to pretend otherwise. We're all joggers here. We may aswell embrace it. :)

Who are you and what have you done with 0407?

Sure the tri lads are only there because they'll be laughed out of slowtwitch. ;)

Race walking is an athletics event under IAAF definition and jurisdiction? Surely it stays here under athletics??

Talking about race walking, great performance by Colin Griffin.
But nearly 47 mins for every 10k so he's out of this elite forum too.

Some great results from our racewalkers.Olive finished in 8th place.

Lets be honest here, our racewalkers have more chance than our runners of a medal @ the Olympics.

Considering this thread is silly by nature, I thought I may aswell go along with the general attitude. Was there really a need to use an @ symbol as an abbreviation for "at"? If anything, it takes longer to type @ than it does "at".

    :D:D
