There are thieving b*stards everywhere nowadays. All sorts of businesses are being targetted. Hope they find them.

No offense to Jimmy, I'm sure he's a lovely guy and runs a great business, but does this not stink of an insurance fraud job to anybody? very little detail about how the break-in occurred and a hell of a lot of stock taken.

I'm not accusing anyone of anything or saying he has done it btw, just the first thought that came to my mind.

Sounds pretty libellous, pal. If there is any insurance involved, as I´m sure there is, I imagine all the appropriate steps will be taken by all sides to investigate.

I´d be quite interested to see where the thieves eventually try to sell. The guitars will amost certainly be leaving the country if they ever manage to sell them as Ireland is a pretty small place, with only one or two options for selling things like that.

Well the shop seems to have lost an awful lot of very expensive guitars - obviously very clued in and strong thieves…

There was another thread in music production where some place gave a laughably long list of all the equipment that had been stolen. The thieves would have needed an artic with a spare hour or three of no one looking at them to take eveything with them.

Also, the thieves took two Marshall MG amps - joke´s on them!

That´s worse than any prison sentence.

I'd imagine they were on their way out of the country within hours of being stolen. Otherwise they will never get past customs and there's not a hope in hell they would be able to sell them in Ireland. Hopefully his insurance should cover everything though and the shop will be ok.

Chains were attached to the door frame and they used a car to rip the whole frame out , very violent if you ask me.. and I know Jimmy , he is doing very well for himself , trust me. Jimmy is NOT the guy to pull a stunt like insurance fraud anyway.. he's the most down to earth guy you'll meet , best guitar shop in Ireland if ya ask me!

sad state of affairs when the first thing that occurs to you is that:(

in fairness if you put jimis guitars on the side of a transit and silence the alarms who is going to say boo to you emptying the place? not all thieves are idiots unfortunately.

I hope the fcukers die a slow cancerous death.

See I didn't know this was what happened. The main reason I jumped to that conclusion is that with the whole recession, a lot of business are closing down, and insurance claims is something that's becoming more common before a business shuts down to pay it's debts. I wish the best of luck to Jimmy and hope he gets his stock back, the last thing we need is more Irish business's closing.

There are gangs travelling round the country breaking into and cleaning out businesses of their contents and shipping them out of the country, so this could well be the case here, given the amount of stock that was taken. I think your comments would be quite offensive to Jimmy.

Yeah offensive and uncalled for, guy doing his best to run a decent shop in said recession and people start accusing him of insurance fraud. Makes me sad.

As I said before, I didn't know any background to the shop or the robbery, I wasn't accusing him of anything, I was simply stating it was such a large list of high value stock that things like insurance fraud is common. I didn't mean to make any offensive comments towards the owner's as I've never visited the shop nor talked to the owner.

Can mods please stop silly speculation and comments pertaining to that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,635 CMod ✭✭✭✭Ravelleman

Fires would be a lot more suspicious but this just seems to be case of serious misfortune for an honest business owner, especially in these troubled times.

One might also speculate that the guitars, or the money earned from them, will be heading towards somewhere in eastern Europe or perhaps the Balkans since this seems like some serious business. I get the impression that Irish gangs only go for drugs and murders/Republican activities (and I say Republican in the loosest sense of the word possible). Someone here might correct me though.

    I rarely post,
jimis is a great place, and jim is a very decent guy altogether.
its terrible news, I only hope that it doesnt, put him under. Really sorry to hear that.

I presume these guitars were the ones on the shop floor.
Does anybody know if they grabbed the hard cases too? What about the pedals?

Nope all the cases were left and no pedals taken.

This was no insurance job. I was In and out of that shop today having a mod done on one of my guitars which I'd arranged in advance. The place had clearly been turned over professionally and the guys were visibly gutted at the intrusion, damage, and loss of stock, and the careless and violent manner in which it had been done. Dave had been there since the middle of the night dealing with it, was wrecked, and STILL took in my guitar and worked on it for 90 minutes (and did a bang up job by the way!) while I waited there watching tradesmen and insurance assessors coming and going sorting out the damage.

I was genuinely gutted for the staff, and will make every effort to support their shop whenever I can, as under the circumstances they bent over backwards to help me out today. I'm sure you've already received enough flack for your poorly judged post, so I won't add any more, except to suggest that you refrain from making hurtful/defamatory speculations in future until you have all the facts.

Actually I think it is high time we posted the type of post that the guys in Jimi's would actually want to hear. Namely, I am really sorry to hear about this and I will keep a vigilant eye out for any of these guitars that may cross my path. Should I see anything suspicious I will contact the store immediately.

Desperately bad news for the guy, hard enough doing business in this country.

    Shame on you...

The guy has had his livelihood attacked and you immediately assume he's on the take...

His shop is savage and Jimi is a sound guy.

I've only been out there once but I have to say it was a positive experience. I'm very sad to hear about this. Nobody likes losing guitars or equipment... especially not from their small business. In this day and age (in fact any time) I have the utmost respect for small businesses. They need all the support they can get... and more.

I hope that they get the equipment back soon.

Simple rule of the internet folks - if you don't want a troll to get the attention, don't reply to the troll. (Not calling anyone a troll per se but you get the meaning)

This is pretty crap for Jimi regardless. Must have been a professional operation to clear out that many guitars!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 625 ✭✭✭wild turkey

    That's just awful !
I love going in there & always come out gassing for something
You have to hand it to the likes of jimi's & Some Neck for taking the risk of setting up such businesses in these times, its a big risk for these guys & for some Pr1ck to come & do such a thing must be devastating!
Next time I'm out that way, I'll make it my business to go in & buy something out of respect to the man for what he's doing.
