Recommend a good Chrono.

Myself and the bruv are going to invest in a chrono fairly soon me thinks having modded our aegs we don't want to drive up a fair distance to only find out our aegs are shooting hot. And naturally buying more aegs in the future and doing upgrades its a necessary piece of equipment to have.

So can anyone recommend a good quality, accurate chrono. Heard that some can give different reading to others so ideally we want one that will give as close a reading if not exact reading to the ones present on sites like LAC and other sites.

SKAN, XCortech (and associated clones) & Madbull are the best in my opinion.

The SKAN are the most reliable, but the most expensive - so you need to ask yourself, do you need a chrono that good? The X-Cortech matches the SKAN's readings closely enough, but can be a little out...plus, it's not fantastic at measuring the more obscure BB weights.

Madbulls are grand chrono's...just make sure they're fully charged, otherwise they both bump FPS, and drop it.

Personally what I did was measure my X-Cortech against the SKAN one we have in work so that in the event it was out, I'd know by how much, and could apply the necessary adjustments from there. So whichever you get, bring it to the site you play at and see how much it's in/out, and again just apply the adjustments so that you know for certain if your gun is over :)

In the long run if the chrono I buy is inaccurate even if it is because "I forgot to charge it" (not saying that the madbull is cheap or anything) and there is a difference in fps, and for arguments sake there was a significant difference and I could not play as a result this then that means I have bought a chrono, then have to invest in parts to downgrade a aeg.

By the sounds of it, the x-cortech seems good, Im not bothered about testing fps with various bb weights, this is strictly for upgrades and insuring it is not firing hot when I skirmish and so .20's will always be use with the hop off.

How much of a difference +/- in fps does the x-cortech have in comparison with the Skan?

About 5fps, so it's pretty darn good.

The Madbulls get touchy by 20fps +/- when they're very low on battery.

which is smaller than the deviation between shots on most aegs tbh

I've owned an xcortech for the last few years and can't fault it; switching between BB weights on occasion but typically staying with .2g & .25g for the most part.

Well worth the cash paid for it!
