Smallest Printable Area of a printer

    Hi guys,

I'm setting up a system for a company to print out a formatted document. There will be multiples based on the same template. I will have to define a margin on this document. So I am wondering about what printable area to set... I know that my Epson has 3mm top, bottom, left and right, but obviously this does not mean that all printers are the same..

Is there a lowest common denominator that I could choose without having to go through all the lists of printers to find out?

    thanks,
    J

3mm is pretty tight and I'd imagine most printers would have enough grab / feed to handle that. Could you live with 3mm white space all round or do you really need to squeeze even more out?

Hi Ronan, I'm really interested in finding a lowest common denominator... Currently I have an Epson SX205 and conincidentally the other lad I'm working with has an Epson SX215, so they are very similar... But what I want to avoid is the situation where one of us changes printer (which is eventually gonna happen) and for there to be "outside the printable area" messages for the files on the new printer...

I guess if I could find what printer has the smallest printable area I could choose this as the default margin for all documents and then I could be sure that no matter what printer we got, the document would print out on it..
