what calibre for fox?

    Well lads,a friend from work asked me to shoot rabbits on his land (happy days!!).He also wants me to take foxs as well . I have a .22lr so i was just wondering if its ok to shoot foxes with this round and if so at what range?

    yeah man go ahead but just be sensable about it! using subs most lads will recomend 50-60 yards max, using HV 70-80 yards would be the max recomended although they will do the job with good shot placement long after that distance there is too much room for error when accounting for the severe drop of the 22lr round and the fact that if you have not shot many foxes your heart will be thumping.

    be sensible and pick your shots, let them go if you have to and get them another day and remember pop shots only educate foxes!

    Think of your range as shotgun range multiplied by two and you won't go too far wrong. Shot placement with such a low velocity and light weight round will be absolutely essential to achieve good clean kills. Get your practice in with rabbits first as they're a lot smaller and easier to dispatch cleanly and quickly.
