HTC Desire HD Broken again

    Hi Folks,

I bought my DHD in Nov 2010 from Carephone Warehouse, CPW, all going well until Febuary 2011 when my WiFi, volume and other things stopped work. I took it back and was given a new phone.

In August 2011 the same issues came back (with the new phone), I returned it was it was repaired (new board).

This morning the issues, volume rocker not working, returned. I've contacted CPW to be told the phone is out of warrenty by a few days. This was after my warrenty being renewed for a year with the new handset in Feb 2011 and again by 3 months with the repair in Aug 2011.

Have I any come back due to it being the same issue? The store manager has said he would ask if anything can be done, but the system is showing it being out of warrenty.

Anybody know if I have the right to a repair?

    Thanks

This is more for the Consumer Issues forum rather than the Android one I'd imagine.

Warranty is on top of your statutory rights in Ireland. It doesn't replace them.

So the shop can say one year but in Ireland goods are expected to last for a reasonable time. There doesn't seem to be a set timeframe defined and it's subjective. For example if you buy a phone for a few hundred you could probably expect it to last longer than a phone you bought for a tenner.

This forum is a good place to start.

If the retailer refuses to fix the phone then you could take them to the small claims court. It's not expensive for you but it's not quick either.

The most important tips are stay calm, document everything, put it in writing to the retailer and then take it further if they refuse to repair / replace / refund your phone.

Can't confirm 100% but I think he's right. You have to have the receipt though.

My Samsung Galaxy S broke for the third time last month. It was 18 months old. CPW told me to take a hike as their warranty lasts one year. There is a second year of warranty with Samsung. Contacted them directly and they have agreed to replace the phone for me.
I think the above posts are correct and you have a two year warranty also.
