    Thanks for reply.

Buying a house and this car is in the garage. Previous owner didn't take it away. I don't restore cars myself so I'm not interested in keeping it.

Unfortunately I don't know anything about the car, where it came from or how much was paid for it. I'd appreciate any help guys.

It looks like a '635' plate ,this adds value straight away.
If you can get the other 3 letters then we can tell you the year,if its pre 1982 then that makes it classic and adds even more value.
They're not cheap to restore, panels are expensive.
Lost paper work can be re-applied for.

I take it you do not have the logbook so you can't do much with it as it is not yours.

Logbook can be replaced (via Garda Station and Peace Commissioner) once you are the legal owner of the vehicle.

    Dont scrap the car!;)

That car is good for parts only, look at the rust on the bottom of the windscreen. I wouldnt waste time applying for a log book, just sell it for parts and let the next guy worry about it. Its worth more than €150 but not much more, especially if it has to be recovered.

I spy BBS alloys and '635' in the reg ... very sexy :)

Utterly sinful to scrap it, even if its not fully restorable it might be possible to make it run, at the least it needs a proper send off banner racing

Be worth breaking for parts if it's rusty. And those bastards can rust. There's one sitting in the yard here and it's a pile of crap.

Hmm just noticed its a manual. I wouldnt mind it as a trackday car. Fit a turbo and some proper management and it would be some fun.

I hate to be so cynical, but the only economically salvageable thing I can see there is brown and cardboard.

Buy the looks of the inside somebody may have started breaking it already

Near Charleville. The deal on the house has not closed yet so the owner might still decide to take it away. Thanks for the info guys. I won't be scrapping it thanks to the reaction so far.

If it is going up for sale in the future I will put a link to the adverts.ie link here (I don't think that breaks any forum rules but I could be wrong)

Car was not taken by the former owner. The ad is on donedeal:

I'm looking for offers for a while to figure out a reasonable price for it.

Best of luck with it, try to get the tax book off the last owner.
Have a look at the 'x19' thread on this forum to see the complications it can bring up in the future.

Thanks for pointing that out. I just read the thread. We will call the Department of Transport before we close any deal on the car.

The car is legally ours. We included a clause in the contract when we bought the house and the seller agreed to this. We just don't have the logbook.

As much as I like the old 635's I can't see that car being worth any more than €400 / €500 as is. There was a minty looking one sold by a user here a few months back for I think less than €3k. It would take more than twice that figure to get this car in similar condition.

Best of luck with the sale anyhow.
