So, I'm pretty sure I've thrown these exams, failed a few and not done great in the rest. It's my final year, so repeats in August are not even worthwhile, just wondering what the procedure is for repeating the entire year? Any insight would be great!

If you fail in May you repeat in August. Only subjects you fail can be repeated in August...and if you fail these modules in August you repeat them for the year. You basically are given a second chance and everything from the year before is wiped away. You have to pay full fees for the modules you are repeating and you arent entitled to a grant while repeating. In special circumstances you are allowed to repeat the whole year, students union are good with things like this so you should talk to the Education Officer about it.

I repeated my final year this year. I passed all modules but decided to repeat all 60 credits to improve my grade.

I got in touch with the head lecturer in my department and he gave me the name and address of the mitigation committee. I had to write them a letter detailing my reasons for repeating. Mine was illness so I enclosed letters from my doctors as proof. As far as I can remember, the mitigation committee met at the start of July and I received word back from them within a week of their meeting.

I was also able to submit medical certs to the fees office, and have my tuition fees for the year waived. However, this is rare and is only done in circumstances such as illness or a bereavement during the exam period, etc. Basically something outside of your immediate control.

As mentioned above, you are not entitled to the grant during a repeat year, but are in following years. However, you are able to apply to the Student Hardship Fund for your first repeat year for rent, books, etc but not for tuition fees.

If you failed exams, I'm not sure if you have to sit the autumn repeats before being allowed to repeat the year. That being said, I knew a girl who didn't sit most of her summer or autumn exams and she was still allowed to repeat 40 credits the next year (capped), not sure what reason she gave for repeating.

You could also apply to have the capping removed from your autumn exams and study your butt off for the summer. Repeating a year isn't fun, trust me!
