getting rid of space around cropped picture

Here is a sample jpeg. When I cropped the centre part how do i get rid of the light gray space around it and show only the bright centre area,? I did it with printscreen to paint to pictures as jpeg and then edit/crop

This isthe firefox start page about:home. Is it possible to get rid of the sign up for newsletter link under the search box?

Edit I just realised the gray space is black here. I would just like a box the size of the centre box

Do you want to copy the box that starts halfway down the "sign up for newsletter" message? You could copy a section of that, the same height as the message and just keep pasting it over the message until its gone.

No I want the black around the whole pic gone to only have the pic

the "sign up for newsletter" message thing is seperate. I want rid of that as it is clickable

There is no black/grey around the outside of the screen grab, you just see that in Firefox when viewing an image.
