I want to purcahse a Sky+HD 1TB box on adverts.ie, The seller is saying that he can pair my current card to the Sky Box i wish to buy.

Does anyone know if this is a breach of Sky's T&C's? Is there anyway they will find out. The seller has good feedback from previous buyers of the box, im just worried sky will call get annoyed because the box wasnt officially bought from them or their agents.

sky don't really care where the box came from and, yes, you can transfer card to another box, a call to sky support is all it takes.

Sky will be delighted you pay the extra Sky HD sub wherever you get the equipment from.

Im already paying the HD sub because we have the bog standard Sky+HD box. 250GB isnt enough space for us though.

Swap out the hard drive in your own box,not that hard to do & probably cheaper.

You can call or use the online chat to get the new Box pair with your existing viewing card, not sure if they will do for the seller when I did mine they asked for account details like account number, security question. Also you will need some of the details from the new box from Settings, System Details and viewing card number.

Feck that. The hdd would cost nearly that anyway. Its not worth the hassle. Besides, our current HD box is slow as hell. Wouldnt mind a brand spanking new one.

Just get the new HD box, stick yer card in, and call Sky to pair the card to your new box. They don't care how you got it. It doesn't breach any T&C's as it's still official Sky hardware.

The seller would need all your contact details etc. if he were to call. None of which you would give out to random strangers!

Also a quick pointer, make sure the box you're buying isn't still under contract to Sky, they've been known to refuse to pair a card to a box if it's still attached to a existing contract or one thats within its 30 day cancellation notice period.
