Friend has Sky plus box and has recorded a programme on it, can he upload the programme to a USB Memory Stick and could one then put it into this Humax box and watch it one tv or pc - or is that too easy, have I that too simplistic ??

Otherwise what is the purpose of a USB slot in this and other set top boxes?

    Thanks in advance

The usb slot is pretty much a decoration on most Sky boxes and serves little or no current purpose.

The port(s) does have the prerequisite 5V DC output though - can be useful in the odd circumstance like charging up a mobile phone or providing a power source for something like a VONETS wifi bridge for Sky Anytime+.
