I am in the process of relocating a friend to Germany and she has 2 Cats that need to make the journey also. I have been in touch with a few places:
www.airsea.ie. but I am finding the prices Hugely Expensive !! (800+)

Has anyone been through this process before (Taking cats from Ireland to mainland Europe) and are there any companies that specialise in this sort of service ?

What figures should I be looking at ?

    Any advice appreciated !

    :)

Will she be driving over? She could just go on the ferry, that's what a friend of mine did when she moved to the continent with her cats.

    Hi,

We recently had to do something similar, relocating our from Milan to Cork with our Jack Russell.

We don't have a car nor a credit card to rent one, after a lot of research our itinerary was the cheapest (not necessarily the most relaxing though):

    MILAN - PARIS (Train)
    PARIS - CALAIS (Train)
CALAIS - DOVER (Ferry crossing - only cross channel ferry allowing pets accompanying a foot passenger)
    DOVER - LONDON (Train)
    LONDON - HOLYHEAD (Train)
    HOLYHEAD - DUBLIN (Ferry crossing)
    DUBLIN - CORK (Train)

Note: it still cost us in excess of €300 between all the connections and pet charges, as well as Vet fees for pre-journey checkup and worming (make sure you have an EU pet passport as well), and ended up wanting to kill each other with the stress of the journey planning, but it was the best solution for our needs and constraints.

We are a bit worried at the length of the journey, but planned it with plenty of stops for toilet breaks/leg stretches for our dog.

    Hope that helps!

That actually seems very reasonable with the amount of changes you had to make. At a guess I would have thought it would have taken least 1000 euros.
