    Hi,

Backpackertravelinsurance.ie - what are these guys like? - anyone ever use them before? Offering premium cover for 2 months in south east asia for 59 euros, seems like a good deal, or does anyone have any other recommendations?

    Cheers

    J

Try www.insureandgo.ie I found them the cheapest around right now with same if not better cover.

used to use multitrip.com but they have a gone a good bit dearer now for some reason, less people travelling I guess.

I used them for a RTW trip & had to make a claim when I got seriously ill while travelling. The hospital bill was over €7k and they paid it directly so I was never out of pocket. I found them good to deal with & would definitely use them again.

I noticed a lot of very unfavourable reviews about these guys on the net.

Does anyone have any experience with multi trip.com?

What were the reviews concerning, just out of curiosity?

There cover is better than the rest and In my eyes if you dont have to use your insurance cover at all which I would say on 80% of occasions you dont then its value for money.

I have used multi-trip over the last number of years for my holidays and there cheap enough but this year they are more expensive.

They may be cheap but when it comes to actually making a claim that's when most people seem to have the problems. What's the point of getting insurance if they're not going to pay out when something happens. Might as well not bother in that case.

Insureandgo's Irish operation is underwritten by Mapfre and I think their claims staff are based in Galway. I had to make a claim with them, found them very easy to deal with.

A lot of the reviews seem to be to do with the UK side where, in fairness, the travel insurance product has been beaten down price and quality wise by the aggregators...

Multitrip are underwritten by Mapfre as well and I think the Galway office handles their claims too, but Insureandgo is the direct side of the business so there's no middleman.

That's what I was told anyway (friend working in claims dept)

Insureandgo seem like a bunch of cowboys. I've been ringing loads of companies and comparing quotes for an uncoming trip. Have to chase them to get any info out of them and then they never ring back when they'll 'ring back in 5 minutes'.
And that's when I'm trying to give them money. Would hate to see them if I was trying to get money from them.
