Hopefully this is the right place to put this.

So someone in the house was far too rough with our laptop, a compaq presario cq57-355sa and has broken the DC jack. I know how to repair it and want to buy a part off the internet. Since I have to experience in soldering I will buy the part with the cable pre-soldered onto the jack.

So I was wondering since I can't find a cq57 jack on the internet or ebay, would a cq50 or cq 60 etc be compatible? Is there any way of telling this? Do i have to take the jack out and ID the part manually?

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
    thanks
