    Hi,

I'm new to this whole thing so any help/advice would be much appreciated.

Went to the social welfare office last week to see if I could access the Job Bridge scheme. Was told to fill out all the forms and put in a claim first. Realistically, I don't see myself entitled to anything (am under 25 and live at home, have never paid PRSI) but will jump through the hoops in order to find out about Job Bridge.

The UP19 form is asking for documents to prove I've been applying for jobs. So is the UP1 from. Do I just make copies of the emails/documents? Or will one set of documents do?

One set of documents should suffice.

    Cheers.

Are there any boards users currently on Job Bridge?

Or has anyone completed a scheme?

My other query is, do I have to have been paying PRSI in order to avail of signing on for credits?

Yes you have to have been paying prsi in order to make a credit claim. And the same criteria applies to a credit claim as a jobseekers claim.. you have to be available and looking for work.

    Thanks again.

Have I to be paying PRSI for a certain number of years?

My problem is that I've had virtually no paid work, would this exclude me altogether from Job Bridge?

    Thanks

good luck with the jobridge scheme,i have been on a fas ce course and can only speak negatively of them due to my experience on them,i have seen ads for internships for sales in busy shops etc..it seems like abuse of the system, hopefully though they offer you something at the the end of it,but from what ive heard the hiring rate is poor, its a joblocker..

Thanks, it looks as though I may not be eligible for a Job Bridge scheme which is a pity.

So far I've heard fairly negative things about the whole scheme. Figures came out recently which showed only about 12% of interns got jobs after their internships ended which isn't exactly great. And that includes interns who were hired by other companies/businesses.

I think it's helpful for people (like myself) who don't have work experience - it's almost impossible to get a job without work experience so it's very difficult to gain any experience. Bit of a vicious circle really!

Did you hand in CV's in person into supermarkets and shops, there always good places to look around this time of year i find.
Another thing aswell would be go to a recruitment agency (i know some of them can be frustrating but you can get lucky with some)..
In the meantime all you can do is top up and do more courses,if you have a diploma for example, push on ahead and do your degree.
I have found it hard myself, but i went on in my spare time to finish off my degree,so my chances of getting a better paid job have increased if i do get lucky.
Keep all your job app rejection letters as you never know when you might need them for welfare again..as they do reviewals for those on the dole
Not getting jobbridge isnt the end of the world..http://politico.ie/social-issues/8313-pathways-to-work-or-pathways-to-poverty.html
