No Backpay

    I signed on in February, i was waiting 10 weeks or more for any payment then I got a letter saying my claim was stopped because I was missing a form, which I didn't know was missing, so I rang social welfare, lady told me to send form and go to local welfare office to reopen claim which i did I asked about my backpay from original claim and she said i should get it. Got notice of my payment today and it says only being payed form the time i reopened my claim. gutted because losing over a 1000 euro. is there anything I do about this???

    It would make sense that if its a new claim you only get the backpayment from the date you apply and that is not the previous date for the rejected claim but hopefully I'm wrong! I would ring citizens advice if theres no joy witht this thread but if the backpay is an issue go to your CWO officer if you will be struggling to pay basic costs while waiting for the second claim to go through.

    You can appeal this decision. Go to sw office and tell them you want to appeal.
