    Hi,

I have two phone lines in my shop, one for phone and one for Card Machine.

The extension from the box relating to the card machine has been pulled out from the extention so and i dont know which ordert to put them back.

    I have 4 pins - 2, 3 , 4 , 5 & 4 colours Green, Red, White & Blue.

Any ideas which colour goes in which number pin?

    Would really appreciate your help.

    Thanks
    Chris

That one also explains BT UK/NI wiring : http://www.telephonesuk.co.uk/wiring_info.htm

Generally, the only pins you need to worry about are 2 and 5, they're they actual line.

Pin 3 is used as a shunt for the bell, not all phones use this, but some older ones do.

The wiring's a bit more cumbersome than eircom / US setups as they still use a 3rd wire for the bell ringer.

Eircom's sockets have a similar setup, but it's almost never connected and it's not needed. Where as in BT-land you often do need it connected.
