    Hi,

Need help in trying to copy the text from a scanned PDF file into an Excel spreadsheet. The PDF was a scan of an Excel spreadsheet. What would be the best way to do this? Should I use OCR software to copy and paste the text into the cells in a new Excel spreadsheet or is there an easier way to do it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if you need any assitional info. I can provide an example of the PDF if needed.

OCR is pretty much your only option seen as its scanned any text data is long gone. If you do use OCR check check and double check it too.

Id nearly err on the side of retyping then using OCR personally.

Thanks Fionny, it's a very large document so I would like to avoid retyping it if possible. The OCR seems a bit hit and miss. Do you think that OCR is my only option without having to retype the entire document?

Pretty much ya unless you can get your hands on the original file.

Definitely recheck, and it could be a nightmare having to do it, although depends on the document, if its clear and a good font it could be the perfect solution ...... but more often than not, the amount of time invested to get the finished product, you would have been better of retyping from the start.
