New speed cameras?

A friend of mine seems to think there are new "hi-tech" speed cameras affixed to the back of speed limit signs on the n2 and n3. I reckon they're transmitors for pneumatic road tubes as he mentions two black wires running across the road.

    Can you settle the arguement.

I figured that. He's arguing with me to the bitter end saying there's cameras on them

They used to use wires on the road for speed checks, but stopped due to an obvious flaw.

They are traffic counters on the signs.

They check the traffic passing and count the cars as they go over the lines.
