Hotel Voucher Gift- Suggestion

hi,
just looking for some suggestions for a hotel voucher, I want to give this as a wedding present as I'm sure the couple would enjoy a few nights away, but I don't know where I want to send them. they are going on Honeymoon a few months after the wedding so I envisage them going away for a night or two in the days following the wedding, but I know they haven't booked, so you get the idea, somewhere nice!

Should I get voucher for a particular hotel-suggestions for romantic getaway for young couple
or for a chain of hotels
or buy a voucher off boardsdeals, (prob the best value, but will have limitations/rules attached)
Does it look cheap getting something from a deal site even though you'd be spending a fair few bob?

Well what are the couple like? Do they stay in standard 3* hotels or do they only stay in 5*?

I'd just give them the cash and let them make their own mind up on where to spend it tbh.

Chain hotels are never really the "romantic getaway" type of place since their mainstay of business would be business travellers and choosing a hotel for someone else's romantic weekend away is a bit of a minefield if you've never heard them say they'd love to stay in a particular place as you'll be landing them with the cost of travel to/from the hotel and as it's unlikely a voucher will cover the cost of everything for the weekend (e.g. your voucher would cover the cost of the room and perhaps a few drinks whereas they'll also have to cover their meals, drinks etc) it's likely that such a present will end up costing your friends money to use...

I definately wouldn't go for a specific hotel.

I doubt they've ever stayed in a 5 star, so 4star would be grand. They would prob usually stay in a good 3
star hotel but think 4 star at least would be better on this occasion

Does every1 agree?, think I could get a good deal for a couple of nights with a dinner, etc,
Also like the blue book idea, but feel that that could easily cost them more as our voucher wouldn't cover very much.

Definitely don't go with one of the deals sites. They could end up having serious trouble trying to book it and a lot of the time the hotels aren't up to scratch.

A better idea would be to get a voucher for a hotel that includes dinner. We were given a voucher when we got engaged that included B&B, dinner and champagne. It meant that we only had to pay for drinks. A lot of hotels do vouchers like that now rather than just buying a voucher for a certain amount of money.
