    Hi all,

Here's a challenge for you - can you please recommend a hotel in Ireland (within 3 hours drive from Dublin max) which has the following:

    - Fantastic food/restaurant (this is uber important!)
    - Lovely grounds
    - Nice pool area/spa
    - Preferably 4* so it won't completely break the bank :)
    - Quiet, romantic, country house hotel would fab

Was thinking of Mount Falcon, anyone have any other suggestions?

    Thanks a million! :)

Dromoland castle in Clare. Absolutely stunning, restaurant was very good, there is a spa, pool, lots of outdoor activities golf, clay pigeon, cycling. We went a few weeks ago for a wedding and are definitely going to go back on our own soon. They do fairly good deals, worth checking out, imo.

    You could try Killarney

Now I know these are 5* but there could be offers etc.

Aghadoe Hights - Great Spa, great food, great views of mountains and lakes, out of town
    The Europe - As above

Stayed at the Mount Falcon last christmas for a wedding, was absloutely top class, beautiful place with lots to do around the grounds. 18 of us went clay pigeon shooting and ran a small competition among ourselves in which yours truly won and was 360 euro better off after it . Alan Maloney is the owner and very welcoming, couldn't recommend the place enough.

If you're ever in the mood to really splash out, Sheen Falls Lodge in Kenmare is... just amazing

Mount Juliet in Kilkenny is very nice, great food in the french brasserie Kendals, archery, horse riding or shooting to keep you amused in the afternoon. The long term barman is great, treats you like a president.
It's not to far from Dublin, maybe an hour.

As I started reading your post, I was thinking Mount Falcon as well... then saw you thought of it and was gonna suggest Brooklodge, but I've been superseded again :)

Johnstown, Hayfield Manor and Ashford Castle or Lisloughrey Lodge would all be lovely. Ashford probably in the same price bracket as Dromoland. Ashford is near Lisloughrey though which would be more affordable.

Totally agree with Mount Juliet. Its a relatively short drive, very luxurious, fabulous food, spa is nice, can go horseback riding,......
Love it and would go back in a heartbeat.
