Hi sashafierce i am currently doing the ipass course. Its broken into 2 stages over a year. The first stage is a basic introduction to payroll and employment law. Its very good and covers all the basics you would need for payroll. The law side of it is more of a HR thing (my opinion) and its not to difficult. Stage 2 is alot harder as its covers more material like BIK. I have my final exams on the 26th so fingers crossed. If you are interested in payroll then I would say do the course. :)

Hi there, exams for stage 1 are very easy as stage one eases you into payroll.

Question 1 is a tax deduction card and you will get loads of practice doing these before the exam.

Question 2 is a number of questions relating to employment law

    Both 1 & 2 must be answered.

Questions 3 - 6 are a number of payroll calculation questions like working out tax credits and working out net pay etc. Be weary of question 5 as its hardcore questions and I never completed this question.

On the positive side you only have to answer 3 questions so I ignored question 5.

If you need anymore information or have any questions let me know.

    Hello GOOSEPAUL,

I am new to boards and I have also started doing this course. Did you attend the revision day or know if many attended the revision days? Are they worth doing before the test? Also over the years have the tests changed or has it always been the layout you mentioned below? Apologies for all the questions.

    Hi Garvinho,

No I did not attend the revision classes as the sample questions provided along with two mock test papers prepared me for actual exams. However in my opinion it all depends on how confidant you are coming up to exams. If you feel you are not prepared then I would say do the revision days as you will get numerious examples and questions on each topic of stage 1. Tests will always change as its in line with the budget changes every year. For example when I did stage one the usc was calculated on a week 1 bases and when it came around to stage 2 it had changed to a cumulative basis. Lets just say that this caused havoc before exams as two tax deduction cards are now required.

Feel free to ask questions and if you are stuck on anything i would be more than happy to help.

    Good luck with course.

    Paul

    Hi Paul,

Many thanks for your reply. I don't think I will need the revision class because I'm studying the questions at the end of every chapter and highlighting all parts we are told to in the class. We haven't received the mock exams yet but other people have said that once you know the 2 mock exams well enough you should be ok when the exam comes around. I will hold you to that offer and then bombard you with questions nearer the time.

    :)
