My boyfriend is a manager in one store, he says it depends on which restaurant but starting staff now begin on 8.79 p/h
it goes up to 9.20 p/h if you are over 19

Over time again depends on the restaurant but it is usually time and tenth, and time and half for any hours worked past midnight and double time for any shifts worked on a bank holiday.

    No shift allowance at all.

    I currently work in McDonalds.You get paid 8.70 p/hr and 9.60 p/hr for working Sundays.Everyday you get a 9euro lunch allowannce.

If your under 18 it will be 8 euro an hour.

Personally for the work you have to do, we are way under paid!

    No. You're not.

Unless you have worked for McDonalds before you can't really say that bassey.

I don't know how you can complain about 8.70 an hour for unskilled work. My brother used to flip burgers in there, so he came home tired, sweaty and reeking of grease, and he was perfectly happy with his wage.

I'm not having a go at McDonalds workers, I'd take a job there at the drop of a hat, I've done more demanding work for less than a fiver an hour so I'd take the hand off you for 8.70 an hour.

I have 3.5 year working in McDs in my history. (Though not generally on my CV these days :) ) so I believe I'm well qualified to say ....

Supply and demand rules: If the rate was too low, they wouldn't get staff.

    And.

Hot work, sometimes. Unsociable hours, yes.

But no quals required. Inside and out of the rain (unless you're the unlucky lobby person and the manager's gettiing leaned on re rubbish outside). You're not in much danger of killing or injuring anyone, or causing them look stupid 'cos you've sold them clothes that don't fit, or fall down drunk 'cos you didn't refuse them when you shoud have. Far more craic than your average supermarket checkout. Less tedious than your average clerical job (there are a lot of different jobs to learn how to do, and structured plans to teach them if you're keen). Flexible hours so you can keep doing it when you're in college etc. Always something to do (including "special cleaning" on those really quiet days).

And you learn customer service, cash-handling, fast-food operations, cleaning, timekeeping, working in multi-cultural situations.

Far from the worst job I've had.

Do the staff actually use this everyday? I'd imagine it would be tough to face eating a Big Mac or whatever when you've been cooking them all day? Is it given in the form of vouchers that you could use later?

Coming back to my wife's new salary..
I found this and it seems that they might pay less, because of sector.

Any one is oriented in legal issues and he/she can confirm that it is legal to pay less than minimum wage?

haha yeah you do get sick of eating maccy ds five days a week but when its offered to you for free its hard to turn down.Everyone I work with uses it everyday, and no we don't use vouchers you take what you want and show the manager and he just checks that your not taking more than your allowed.

When you're hungry, and cooking the food makes you hungrier, you'll eat it.

I have known people to go two doors up to BK on occasion, but they also came down to MacyDees the odd time as well during my short stint there, so meh.
