Is NUIG a great place to be a mature student? How easy is it to make friends with other mature - ish students? Where do mature students tend to live? Are the clubs and societies 'Mature' friendly? What is the Arts degree experience for matures?
... and all other undergraduate mature opinions that will help the decision as to which offer to take up are welcome! Thanks!

You might want to clarify how mature. There's a big difference between 25, 45, and 65.

As one is forever telling the young lassies outside CP's - age is just a number..

As Squeeonline has said it would be better if you clarified what age of mature you are referring to...
I'm 38 and just finished 4th science where I was the only mature student older than 25. That said I had a great time (socially) with my younger counterparts.

I know there is quite a large number of mature students in the Arts Degree which is good for socialising etc but may actually mean more segregation from younger classmates!!

You may find the first few weeks a little daunting (before the socs meetings start and newbies are wandering around in a haze). Persevere and you'll be fine. I just completed a one year course at NUIG and had friends ranging in age from early twenties to late fifties - you'll be fine. There is also a Mature Students' Society.

I went back as a mature student (late 20's) and found it enjoyable. Plenty of clubs and societies you can join and there tends to be good support amongst other mature students. Best of luck with your studies!
