Mathematical Physics through arts

I checked the other thread and there wasn't really any info on this course, so Iwas wondering what you know about mathematical physics through art.
I'm thinking of doing that to leave my options open, but I'm kind of afraid that this course won't equip me with much knowledge.
If I let's say decide after the end of my degree to do further study in theoretical physics/ mathematical physics, like a master, would that be possible at all?

Word up! Final year mathematical physicists here (through arts, Music is my other subject). I was thinking the exact same as you last year, went to the head of the department, and he assured me that that isn't a problem.

You're not actually doing much less physics than a BSc physics student. You do two first year science modules and a second year science module in your 1st year, then 2nd year is all 3rd year science courses, and 3rd year is all 4th year science courses. You end up with all the same hard stuff that someone in a BSc would do. And you're actually doing the same amount of physics as people doing the BSc Theoretical Physics degree, which is a three year course of maths physics and maths, and they'll have all the same maths classes as you.

It's a great department with some really deadly lecturers, and once you work hard at the hard bits you'll have a great time. I actually came to Maynooth mostly because it allowed me to do music and physics together. A++++++ would study again.

    Good luck!

Thanks a lot, that's the exact same reason why I'm thinking of going to maynooth now, right now I'm doing pure theoretical physics but after finding out about the maynooth course I'm determined to transfer. This was really helpful!

Where are you studying now? What other subject would you want to study in Maynooth?

Right now I'm in UCD, well I'd be wanting to do music, and I don't really know about the third subject yet, not too bothered about that to be honest, that would only really be for one year anyways

You'd be doing my exact course then! NUIM has the best music department in the country, you won't regret it :)
