    Hi all,

I will be flying from Dublin to Berlin with Aer Lingus at the end of May for a weekend.

One question regarding carry on baggage.

Do Racing Helmet with cover bag count as personal item along with one cabin luggage?

Narrow it down a bit please. What sport/type of helmet?

Chances are it'll be fine, EI are little more forgiving with carry on.

I'd be very surprised if they let a motorbike helmet plus a bag through.

I have to say, I'd be surprised if they didn't. The return leg might be a different story, but the outward trip should be fine.

To be on the safe side, OP, perhaps when you arrive at the airport go over to one of the check-in desks and ask!

Was on a Ryanair flight on Sunday (DUB-LGW) and the chap sitting in front of me wore bike leathers and had a helmet in his hand. Didn't notice if he had any other hand luggage.

I wouldn't see Aer Lingus having a problem with you carrying a helmet and a bag on with you.... When you check in, don't be waving it in the check-in person's face would be a good start... Have in down by your foot as you check in. As soon as you declare you have it then you may be putting the staff member in an awkward position whereby she/he may be obliged to have you check in one item, however if you don't declare it then you should be fine.

That's the first hurdle taken care of, then as you board, you would at worst be asked to have the loaders take it from you at the door of the aircraft, and have it placed in the bulk hold... it would then need to be collected by you at the baggage hall along with all the other passenger's checked in baggage..... but that only ever occurs if the flight is full, and there is simply no more room in the cabin for baggage..... happens a lot in Spanish airports. (Tip, be one of the first passengers to board as the crew welcoming you onboard only start getting concerned at what baggage people are carrying on, as the airplane fills up, and there is less space left for baggage).

However since it's a helmet, and would be prone to damage if dropped etc, then they would just leave you keep it with you.

Remember Aer Lingus no longer require you show your boarding pass as you board the aircraft, so just get on the aircraft, smile and sit in your pre assigned seat.

Remember the staff at Aer Lingus are for the most part human... it's the management's humanity where questions arise:):)
