I have a 13" MacBook that when it starts up the round bar under the logo starts to turn and then a bar appears underneath an starts to load then the computer turns off! The computer is dead untill the charger is plug in then the above steps happen.

Can any 1 tell me is it worth fixing it's about 4years old

    Thanks in advance

First off, chances are that yeah, it's worth fixing.

I've seen that once before when i accidentaly let the battery fully discharge. Have you left the battery with a full charge while off? Have you tried running it off the charger?

It will only start up but not run when the charger is plugged in its dead if I try start it with out it.

It would have been left with a full charge when I wasn't using it.

The green light is on constant when I plug it in.

Have you tried booting with the disc that came with it? The one with OSX on it?

If you do that you may be able to see if you can reinstall OSX. If you can do that, it will at least signify that it's not a hardware issue. You do have to deal with getting your stuff off the hdd before reinstalling but that can be dealt with.

So, I would say to stick that in and see if it boots to that. Then have a look at some of the diagnostic tools with that and see what you can dig up.

WARNING: Just a heads up, if you don't want to loose your stuff, don't reinstall OSX without sorting that out first.

I tried the disc and it won't boot at all just keep shutting off after it tries to start up. Possible a hardware problem then?

Looks like it. I was kind of hoping it was just corrupt install it something.

I know CompuB do a diagnostic service at a charge of 75 and are an official Apple reseller. There's a laptop shop on the top floor of Stephens green if you'd like to see if they do Apple repairs I know they will check it out and see what's wrong for free or probably less than compub but I think it's free.

If you're not in Dublin I'm out of ideas but someone else on the forum knows more than me I'm sure.
