speedometer shortly stopped working

    hi

    about a week ago the speedmoter stopped working for about 15minutes and then started working again. the milage also dissapeared when this happened

    a loose wire maybe the issue, anyone know whata the odds ar eon this happening again? i have a driving test in over a month

    sorry, its a 03' ford fiesta 1.3 engine (i think)

    theres low milage on it as it wasnt used much before, just under 37,000 now

    the clutch went on it last summer and that was the only problem there has ever been with it.

    When the mileage and speedo both stop working are any warning lights visible in the instrument cluster?

    Didn't notice any warning lights but because it wasn't for long there could have been

    I have seen the same issue on an 02 Ford Focus. There were a few threads about it here couple of years ago. It happens fairly regularly, and if I remember correctly it's expensive to fix. My wife passed the test with that car, and the dials failed for a few minutes during the test, but instructor didn't notice.

    It shouldn't cost too much to replace. The guy did it for me for €20! It's only a 10 min job!

    yeah if it went for a few minutes they wouldnt notice but since it did go on me for a short time it will probably happen again at some stage
