Hunting wear Nov to Jan

Looking to get a goretex pant Anyone on here have the LL Bean upland goretex pant, badly needed one last season...being v organised and looking at getting one now. LL bean also do a very good goretex stowaway jacket also........I hate wearing bulky coats..my thought is just wear jumper and layers underneath to keep warm...if it rains pull the stowaway goretex jacket out of the game back...also boots or wellies...looking the shed the wellies next year for meindl douvre GTX boots (might regret when crossing stream) but least feed won't be in bits after walking 10K


People are very particular when it comes to hunting wear (Nov to Jan)....what have found to be excellent in the field

I've been wearing a pair of Fjallraven trousers and Meindl Burma boots. I wouldn't worry about crossing streams or that. I've been perfectly dry with the above while crossing rivers and after taking a bit of an inadvertent dip when some ground disappeared and dropped be in a marsh. Both boots and trousers are going to get a dose of wax over the summer now in preparation for the new season but I wouldn't worry. Looking to add a good hunting jacket in the same vein as the Fjallraven or a Deerhunter job and I'll be warm and dry through whatever I find myself out in.

i wear ex irish army dpms ,that i waterproof pre season with nikwash waterproofer ,as weather gets rougher the thermals as base layer,etc, defo need a lighter wind/waterproof jacket and a decent pair of neoprene lined wellies and a fairly light pair coz the auld dunlops are nearing the end and are fairly heavy on the feet on a day out for pheasants,

I have a pair of the meindl Dovre extremes a mighty job, top them off with a pair of british army gaiters and they will keep the water out.

Ever had any of the shorter Meindls? I was looking at the Dovre Extremes originally myself but couldn't find a pair to try them, went with the Burmas in the end. Have been absolutely delighted with them, so would be curious to see whether the Dovres would be hugely different. In retrospect I thought there might be some fit issues with the taller boots as I have very big calves.

I have a pair of the Burmas too and a 10.5 in a burma is the same as a 10.5 in a dovre extreme, I couldn't get a set of gaiters to go around my calves with the boots on but the british army ones were a perfect fit.
