    Distance travelled:
    344.9 Miles

    Fuel used:
    36.63 Litres

    MPG: 43

    Cost: 36.63litres @152.9 cpl = €56.01

Those are my figures from the weekends trip from Dublin to Clare via the M7.
Considering I was cruising at circa 160kmh for the vast majority of the time, I was seriously impressed. The car is a Mk4 TDI golf FWIW.

I wonder did you pick up any penalty points though, thus negating what you saved on fuel? :pac:

Going circa 100mph, in a car without a 6th gear!

Yup - I was impressed, was expecting high 30s at best for that speed. The RPM was about 3700-3900, well above the normal 2000 rpm cruising speed.

That's about what I'm getting with 6 gears!

Yes, ive seen north of 50mpg driving at a steady 110kmh

I was seeing this time how much of a drain on MPG is it when driving consistently but @ c160kmh

EDIT:Actually even my old 1.3 petrol fiesta did north of 40mpg on the motorway, now that I think of it
