    Hi Folks,

Are there any good life saving / water safety classes you'd recommend someone to take if they're involved in OW swimming (mostly triathlon related)?

I'm not a great swimmer by a "proper" swimmer's standard, but increasingly I find myself swimming with small groups of similar or lower abilities than myself during training. I'm happy to swim in rough(ish) water myself, or when it's calm we'd swim a bit further out from the shore.

I think wearing a wetsuit and swimming in appropriate conditions reduces a lot of the risks, but I'd be interested to learn a bit more about what situations can arise and how to deal with them appropriately.

No interest in using it for anything professional, just looking for something practical, ideally OW specific. I dont know if a standard pool lifesaving class is worth doing, or if there's something more appropriate that I should look at?

    Cheers,

Go for a beach lifeguard pool as others are mainly about pool, I would recommend IWS takes a bit of time but does the job whereabouts are you?
