    ive been told its cheaper to tax a 1.9 diesel than it is a 1.9 petrol. is this true???? if so why

    Pre 2008 no the tax is he same as it goes on engine size but cars after 2008 are taxed on emissions so the lower emmisions on 1.9 diesel compared to a 1.9 petrol will make it cheaper

    It would be if the diesel was registered post Jul 08 and in the low tax band.
