How do you mean, "Longer for the engine to shut down?"

when i switch off ignition then it takes the engine 3-4 seconds longer to shut off, to explain it a bit better it dies off rather than shuts down.

what we used to call pre-ignition maybe?

Takes longer than normal to shut down?

Either an ECU problem, ignition key sticking, over-fueling problem, or serious loss in compression that would normally force an engine to stop cycling if the fuel was cut-off (highly unlikely though).

Maybe it's an iffy crank shaft sensor?

The coil pack gives a lot of trouble on them
    It would explain the sluggishness

Does car ever hesitate? Has any work been done on the engine lately?
Probably about time to clean the throttle body and MAF anyway.
Cheap and easy to do. Might fix it and should be done occasionally.
