Muscovy Duck (was - what bird did i see)

Iwas at the lakes beside naas hospital today,i saw 2 birds that were bigger than ducks but smaller than the swans,i presume they are some type of water bird but i when i seen them they were up on the bank, they had black and white bodys with black wings,and a thick red skinned face with a red beak,i presume they were a…

Iwas at the lakes beside naas hospital today,i saw 2 birds that were bigger than ducks but smaller than the swans,i presume they are some type of water bird but i when i seen them they were up on the bank, they had black and white bodys with black wings,and a thick red skinned face with a red beak,i presume they were a male and female as one seemed to have a black feathery flick on the back of his head the other didnt have.iv been there loads of times and never seen these before.any ideas?it may be a something everyday but iv not seen these before and had no camera

http://birdsofbray.blogspot.com/2011/02/what-bird-is-this_21.html ok looked similiar to the bird in this link but was more black and white mottled color than the clean 2 colors of this guy and the beak looked more red and the face looked the same

thats the way one was standing,thats why i thought the feathers on the back of its head stuck out

Probably was one. I had five of them a few years ago and they all flew off one day I should have clipped their feathers but I seen one of the a year later a few miles away in a stream!!
