All Saorview boxes are HD & they all need an aerial of some kind. Around €50 is about as low as prices get atm.

ALL Saorview boxes support HD as RTE2 (and later other channels) are ONLY transmitted in HD. The SCART o/p converts for ordinary old TVs. If the TV is REALLY old or under 14" it might not have SCART, in which case an old VHS will convert the SCART to RF for an aerial socket.

Shop around. Prices dropping weekly or monthly. About €50 to €100 depending on shop.
Do not accept a non-Saorview box (esp without HD) as then RTE2 will be blank and other channels blank later.

There is no such thing as a Digital or Saorview Aerial. If you get TG4 or TV3 now your existing aerial probably works.

As watty says above if she can get all 4 channels with her current aerial it should be plug and play.
