Good gay wedding venue in Clare or Limerick?

Hello...I am new to this so please bear with me if I am asking a common question. We have friends coming home from Canada and they have asked me to find a good hotel that can host their wedding.

They are gay...but I don't know if that makes a difference? They also want to perform a ceremony in the property.

Has anyone attended a venue that held a gay wedding? (Or knows a good place by reputation?)

They are flying into Shannon and they want to base themselves withing twenty miles or so.

    Thank you :)

I'd say try the Clare and Limerick forums.

Here is a search from both the forums.

Ring around once you get an idea what's popular. I can't imagine the gay thing will be much of an issue these days, but you never know.

I attended a gay wedding at the Oakwood Arms in Shannon last January. The food was nice and the couple exchanged vows in a sun room.

I was listening to the radio at the weekend and the general manager of the Strand Hotel in Limerick was going on about how their business had improved with the civil ceremony market and that they had an area available for couples to actually get married onsite as well. Seemingly they are well regarded. I have no affiliation nor have I ever been inside the door of the Strand!!

If they were willing to travel up the road a little then the Landmark Hotel in Carrick On Shannon is another option. I was the photographer at a civil ceremony there a few weeks back and the hotel were exceptionally accommodating to the couple and the venue itself is beautiful. You can see a few sample pics from the venue on my facebook page if you wish.

Try the Clare Inn Hotel. They have a fabulous setting for civil ceremonies and only 10miles from Shannon.

I would second JackRy's suggestion of the Oakwood Arms in Shannon. I was at a great wedding there last summer. There is a seperate entrance into a beautiful glass atrium for wedding guests and they had these torches lit on both sides of the entrance.. made it theatrical. The wedding I was at was a guy and girl, food fab, music great and had a lovely lovely day...would make a lovely venue for any wedding gay or straight.

Again, no links to the place and to be honest, not being local, I don't know any others in the area but know for sure this is a great venue.

Congrats to your friends...glad they are coming over here for the wedding. There's nothing like an Irish wedding is there?xxx

A friend of mine got married in the Strand and her and her husband (and the guests) had a great day/night. I would highly recommend it

This crowd are Limerick based and I'm sure have a wealth of knowledge about local venues.

Just check the venue is licensed by the HSE for Civil Ceremonies / Partnerships. They gay thing shouldn't be an issue.

My partner and I are getting married in November and we haven't had an issue with a single supplier so far on that front.
